Yes, I met my husband there, It was close, he had gone onto close his profile because he was giving up on dating, I had gone on just to see who was on, I saw his profile, and it matched my list almost completely, and I said hi. we met at a park a couple days later. We were married 5 months later.. I am glad that I registered on there.. Although it was different for my sister. She registered on there and went on several dates but ended up marrying her Jr High sweet heart.

Being a bit of an introvert, I have never been able to just walk up to a complete stranger and start up a conversation. I used to ask for help from family and friends but they never gave any thought into the kind of woman I would be interested in. "This is Sally. Her hobbies are couch sitting and sleeping. She has 6 kids that need a good dad. You should go out with her."

After 6 years of this type of thing, I signed up for online dating and am much happier. I met 2 very nice women on Plenty of Fish. We only went out once or twice but it was nice to feel like a man that an attractive woman might be interested in. I signed up for Match last week and am already talking to a very cool lady. So I am not embarrassed to have resorted to online dating! What embarrases me is that I did not try it sooner.

My only regret about online dating is signing up for eHarmony. I was subscribed for a year and did not meet a single woman through the service. Perhaps I was just doing something wrong but I always felt like a pariah on that site. I finally canceled the subscription last month. Did anyone reading this have better luck with that site?

Oh I have been there, done that a few times. I agree that it is SO awkward to try and write about who you are in a few sentences/paragraphs. I got so tired of reading all about the guys who hike, hunt, fish, sky dive, scuba dive, travel, ski, etc. etc. that I wrote ... "So where are all the couch potatoes?" It was a little ridiculous. If a guy has a job, how does he have the time for all that he claims to do?
